These papers span a variety of sources that chronicle and demonstrate Nelson A. Diaz efforts to aid his community. A 1972 graduate of Temple Law School and the first Puerto Rican to do so, Diaz founded the first organization devoted to black and Hispanic law students at Temple University and has continued to form committees and organizations to combat Hispanic issues. He has worked extensively with the Hispanic business community as the executive director of the Spanish Merchants Association of Philadelphia, which helps Hispanics start and improve their businesses.
